Why convert PNG to WebP?
PNG files can be huge, especially for screenshots and graphics with lots of detail. WebP often produces files 50–80 percent smaller than the same PNG, while still supporting transparency. For web use that adds up to dramatically faster pages.
Unlike JPG, WebP can keep your PNG's transparent background intact. That makes it the ideal in-between format for logos, UI screenshots and product images on transparent backgrounds.
Lossy vs lossless WebP
This converter uses lossy WebP, which gives the largest file size savings while keeping transparency. The quality slider controls how aggressive the compression is. For most graphics, quality 80–90 looks identical to the PNG at a fraction of the size.
