Pixels or percentage
Pixels mode is for when you have an exact target — for example a website that needs a 1200 px wide image, or a CMS that limits height to 800 px. Aspect ratio lock is on by default so the image doesn't get squashed.
Percentage mode is for proportional changes — half size, double size, 80 percent, and so on. It's the easiest way to shrink a batch of similar photos by the same amount.
High-quality downscaling
Resizing an image down badly can cause sharp edges to look soft or pixelated. We use a multi-step Lanczos resize for downscaling, which is the same technique used by professional image editors. Upscaling cannot add detail that wasn't there, but the result is as smooth as possible.
